Which scriptures stress God's tasks?
What other scriptures emphasize the importance of fulfilling God's given tasks?

Setting the Scene in 2 Chronicles 8:6

“He built up Baalath and all the store cities that belonged to Solomon, and all the chariot cities and the cities for his horses—whatever he desired to build in Jerusalem, Lebanon, and throughout the land of his dominion.” (2 Chronicles 8:6)

Solomon is seen finishing every project God had placed within his authority. Scripture repeatedly highlights this same principle—when God assigns a task, His people are to bring it to completion.

Old Testament Portraits of Finished Assignments

Genesis 6:22 — “So Noah did everything precisely as God had commanded him.”

Exodus 40:16, 33 — “Moses did everything just as the LORD had commanded him… So Moses finished the work.”

Joshua 11:15 — “Joshua did it; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD had commanded Moses.”

1 Chronicles 28:20 — David to Solomon: “Be strong and courageous and do it… the LORD God… will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the house of the LORD is finished.”

Nehemiah 6:15-16 — The wall “was completed… because they realized that this work had been accomplished by our God.”

Proverbs 16:3 — “Commit your works to the LORD, and your plans will be achieved.”

New Testament Call to Complete the Mission

John 19:30 — “It is finished.”

Acts 20:24 — “…that I may finish my course and the ministry I have received from the Lord Jesus.”

Colossians 4:17 — “See to it that you complete the ministry you have received in the Lord.”

2 Timothy 4:7 — “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

1 Corinthians 4:2 — “Now it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.”

Ephesians 2:10 — “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life.”

Philippians 1:6 — “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

Common Threads We Notice

• God Himself defines the assignment.

• Obedience is measured by completion, not mere intention.

• His presence and provision accompany the work until it is done.

• Completed tasks testify to God’s glory and strengthen the faith of others.

• Faithfulness today prepares us for greater stewardship tomorrow.

Putting It into Practice

• Identify the specific responsibilities God has entrusted to you—home, church, vocation, relationships.

• Lay each task before Him daily, asking for strength to see it through.

• Guard against distractions that tempt you to leave God-given projects half-finished.

• Celebrate milestones, giving thanks that “this work has been accomplished by our God.”

• Keep eternity in view; finishing well on earth anticipates hearing, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

How can we apply Solomon's diligence in our own spiritual responsibilities today?
