Soon after Israel’s deliverance from Egypt, Amalek attacked the weak and weary stragglers at the rear of the camp, showing no fear of God (Exodus 17:8–16; Deuteronomy 25:17–18). Their hostility toward Israel was rebellion against the God who had brought Israel out of bondage.
