The king said to Daniel,

Nebuchadnezzar addressed Daniel after God had revealed the forgotten dream and its interpretation through His Jewish servant. Though Daniel was an exile in Babylon, God placed him before the greatest ruler of his day to display His authority over nations and kings.

Babylon honored many deities, yet Nebuchadnezzar recognized that Israel’s God stood above every supposed god. His confession arose from the undeniable revelation of a mystery no Babylonian wise man could uncover.

The dream itself declared that God gives kingdoms, power, and glory, and that He removes rulers according to His purpose. Nebuchadnezzar ruled a vast empire, but his authority was granted and limited by the Lord. The later humbling of the king would confirm that “the Most High rules the kingdom of men” (Daniel 4:17).

the Revealer of Mysteries,

God alone disclosed the king’s secret dream and the future course of Gentile world kingdoms. Daniel had received the revelation in a night vision and immediately praised God for wisdom, power, and sovereign control over history (Daniel 2:19–23).
