Sin earns death, and no one escapes God’s righteous verdict apart from repentance and His mercy. Ezekiel receives the Lord’s revealed message as Israel faces the consequences of covenant unfaithfulness. Like a guard posted on a city wall, he must alert those in danger rather than remain silent. Spiritual leaders must not soften God’s call to turn from sin. God does not condemn anyone for failing to hear a warning that was never given; yet refusal to turn when warned brings certain guilt, as Ezekiel 33:9 makes clear.
