Their intercession is not an attempt to overcome divine reluctance, but participation in God’s declared purpose. Jesus likewise taught His disciples always to pray and not lose heart (Luke 18:1–8). The urgent concern is Zion’s restoration and the public vindication of God’s name among the nations. Luk 18:1-8 Then Jesus told them a parable about their need to pray… until He establishes Jerusalem Jerusalem is the city God chose as the place of His earthly dwelling and the center of Israel’s worship (Psalm 132:13–14). Though the city has known judgment, destruction, and exile because of Israel’s sin, God promises its future restoration. The prophets foresee a Jerusalem marked by holiness, security, righteousness, and the presence of the Lord (Zechariah 8:3; 14:9–11).
