In the New Testament, Jesus often chides His disciples for their lack of faith and understanding. This chiding is not merely a rebuke but serves as a teaching moment, intended to strengthen their faith and prepare them for the mission ahead. The Berean Standard Bible provides several instances where Jesus addresses the unbelief of His disciples.

Mark 16:14
"Later, as they were reclining at the table, Jesus appeared to the Eleven and rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen."

In this passage, Jesus appears to the Eleven after His resurrection and rebukes them for their unbelief. Despite multiple testimonies of His resurrection, the disciples struggled to accept the truth. Jesus' chiding here underscores the importance of faith in the testimony of His resurrection, which is foundational to the Christian faith.

Matthew 17:19-20
"Afterward the disciples came to Jesus privately and asked, 'Why couldn’t we drive it out?' 'Because you have so little faith,' He answered. 'For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, "Move from here to there," and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.'"

In this account, the disciples are unable to cast out a demon and question Jesus about their failure. Jesus chides them for their "little faith," emphasizing that even a small amount of genuine faith can accomplish great things. This teaching moment highlights the power of faith and the necessity of trust in God's power.

Matthew 8:26
"'You of little faith,' Jesus replied, 'why are you so afraid?' Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it was perfectly calm."

During a storm on the Sea of Galilee, the disciples are terrified, fearing for their lives. Jesus chides them for their lack of faith and calms the storm, demonstrating His authority over nature. This incident teaches the disciples to trust in Jesus' power and presence, even in the midst of life's storms.

Luke 24:25-26
"Then Jesus said to them, 'O foolish ones, how slow are your hearts to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and then to enter His glory?'"

On the road to Emmaus, Jesus encounters two disciples who are disheartened by the events of His crucifixion. He chides them for their slowness to believe the prophecies concerning the Messiah. Jesus uses this opportunity to explain the Scriptures, revealing how His suffering and resurrection were foretold.

John 20:27
"Then He said to Thomas, 'Put your finger here and look at My hands. Reach out your hand and put it into My side. Stop doubting and believe.'"

Thomas, one of the Twelve, famously doubted the resurrection until he could see and touch Jesus' wounds. Jesus chides Thomas for his doubt, urging him to believe. This encounter highlights the blessedness of those who believe without seeing, as Jesus later states, "Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed" (John 20:29).

Throughout these instances, Jesus' chiding serves as a corrective measure, aimed at deepening the disciples' faith and understanding. His rebukes are not harsh condemnations but loving corrections, guiding His followers toward a more profound trust in Him and His mission.
