The term "solidly" is not directly found in the Bible; however, the concept of being solid, firm, or steadfast is a recurring theme throughout Scripture. This idea is often associated with faith, character, and the foundation upon which believers are encouraged to build their lives.

Foundation and Faith

The Bible frequently uses the metaphor of a solid foundation to describe the strength and reliability of faith in God. In Matthew 7:24-25 , Jesus illustrates this concept in the Parable of the Wise and Foolish Builders: "Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because its foundation was on the rock." Here, the "rock" symbolizes the solid foundation of obedience to Christ's teachings.

Similarly, in 1 Corinthians 3:11 , the Apostle Paul emphasizes the importance of a solid foundation in Christ: "For no one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ." This underscores the belief that a life built on Christ is secure and enduring.

Steadfastness in Character

The concept of being solidly grounded is also reflected in the call for believers to exhibit steadfastness in their character. James 1:6-8 warns against being double-minded and unstable: "But he must ask in faith, without doubting, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways." This passage encourages believers to be unwavering and solid in their faith and actions.

God as the Solid Rock

Throughout the Psalms, God is frequently referred to as a rock, symbolizing His strength, reliability, and protection. Psalm 18:2 declares, "The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold." This imagery conveys the idea that God Himself is the ultimate source of solidity and security for His people.

The Church as a Solid Structure

The New Testament also describes the Church as a solidly built structure, with Christ as the cornerstone. Ephesians 2:19-22 states, "Therefore you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the cornerstone. In Him the whole building is fitted together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord." This passage highlights the unity and strength of the Church, grounded in the teachings of Christ and the apostles.

Conclusion

While the word "solidly" may not appear in the biblical text, the principles of solidity, firmness, and steadfastness are deeply embedded in the teachings of Scripture. Believers are encouraged to build their lives on the solid foundation of Christ, to exhibit steadfastness in their faith and character, and to rely on God as their unshakeable rock.
