Upon his arrival, Peter is taken to the upper room where Dorcas' body has been laid. The widows stand by, weeping and showing him the garments Dorcas had made. Moved by the scene, Peter sends everyone out of the room, kneels down, and prays. Turning to the body, he says, "Tabitha, get up." She opens her eyes, sees Peter, and sits up. Peter then presents her alive to the believers and widows, leading to many in Joppa believing in the Lord (Acts 9:40-42).

Significance

Dorcas' account is significant for several reasons. Firstly, it highlights the role of women in the early church. Dorcas is remembered not only for her faith but also for her practical service to others.
