Testing the Spirits

1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone forth into the world. 2In this ye know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ hath come in flesh is of God; 3and every spirit that confesses not Jesus is not of God; and this is the spirit of the Anti-Christ, of which ye have heard that it is coming, and now it is in the world already. 4Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He Who is in you, than he that is in the world. 5They are of the world; for this cause they speak of the world, and the world hears them. 6We are of God; he that knows God hears us; he that is not of God hears us not: from this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

Love Comes from God

7Beloved, let us love one another; because love is of God, and every one that loves has been begotten of God, and knows God. 8He that loves not never knew God; because God is love. 9In this was manifested the love of God in us, that God hath sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we may live through Him. 10Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son, to be a propitiation for our sins. 11Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12No one has ever beheld God. If we love one another, God abideth in us, and His love has been perfected in us. 13In this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He hath given us of His Spirit. 14And we have beheld, and testify, that the Father hath sent the Son, as Savior of the world.

15Whosoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abideth in Him, and he in God. 16And we have known and believed the love which God hath in us. God is love, and he that abides in love abides in God, and God abideth in him. 17In this has love been made perfect with us, that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, even so are we in this world. 18There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment; and he who fears is not made perfect in love. 19We love, because He first loved us. 20If anyone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he that loves not his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God Whom he has not seen. 21And this commandment we have from Him, that he who loves God loves his brother also.
