Setting Up the Tabernacle 1And YHWH spoke to Moses, saying, 2“On the first day of the month, in the first month, you shall raise up the tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting. 3And you shall put there the ark of the Testimony,† and you shall cover over the ark with the veil. 4And you shall bring in the table, and you shall arrange its arrangement, and you shall bring in the lampstand, and you shall set up its lamps. 5And you shall set the gold altar for incense before the face of the ark of the Testimony, and you shall put up the screen of the door for the tabernacle. 6And you shall set the altar of the burnt offering before the face of the door of the tabernacle, the Tent of Meeting. 7And you shall set the basin between the Tent of Meeting and between the altar, and you shall set water there. 8And you shall put up the court all around, and you shall set up the screen of the gate of the court. 9And you shall take the anointing oil, and you shall anoint the tabernacle and all that is in it, and you shall sanctify it and all its vessels, and it shall be holy. 10And you shall anoint the altar of the burnt offering and all its vessels, and you shall sanctify the altar, and the altar shall be holy of holies. 11And you shall anoint the basin and its stand, and you shall sanctify it. 12And you shall bring Aaron and his sons to the door of the Tent of Meeting, and you shall wash them with the water. 13And you shall clothe Aaron with the holy garments, and you shall anoint him, and you shall sanctify him, and he shall minister as priest to Me. 14And you shall bring his sons, and you shall clothe them with tunics. 15And you shall anoint them as you anointed their father, and they shall minister as priests to Me. And their anointing shall surely be to them an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.” 16And Moses did according to all that YHWH had commanded him; so he did. 17And it came to pass, in the first month of the second year, on the first of the month, the tabernacle was raised up. 18And Moses raised up the tabernacle, and he set its bases, and he put its boards, and he set its bars, and he raised up its pillars. 19And he spread out the tent over the tabernacle, and he put the covering of the tent on it from above, as YHWH had commanded Moses. 20And he took and he set the Testimony into the ark, and he put the poles on the ark, and he set the mercy seat on the ark from above. 21And he brought the ark into the tabernacle, and he put up the veil of the screen, and he covered over the ark of the Testimony, as YHWH had commanded Moses. 22And he set the table in the Tent of Meeting on the north side of the tabernacle, from outside the veil. 23And he arranged on it an arrangement of bread before the face of YHWH, as YHWH had commanded Moses. 24And he put the lampstand in the Tent of Meeting, opposite the table, on the south side of the tabernacle. 25And he lit the lamps before the face of YHWH, as YHWH had commanded Moses. 26And he put the gold altar in the Tent of Meeting before the face of the veil. 27And he burned on it incense of spices, as YHWH had commanded Moses. And he put up the screen of the door for the tabernacle. 29And he put the altar of the burnt offering at the door of the tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting, and he offered upon it the burnt offering and the grain offering, as YHWH had commanded Moses. And he put the basin between the Tent of Meeting and between the altar, and he set water in it for washing. And Moses and Aaron and his sons washed from it their hands and their feet. Whenever they went into the Tent of Meeting and when they came near to the altar, they washed, as YHWH had commanded Moses. 33And he raised up the court all around the tabernacle and the altar, and he set up the screen of the gate of the court. And Moses finished the work. The Cloud and the Glory 34And the cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of YHWH filled the tabernacle. 35And Moses was not able to enter into the Tent of Meeting, because the cloud dwelt on it, and the glory of YHWH filled the tabernacle. 36And whenever the cloud was taken up from on the tabernacle, the sons of Israel would set out in all their journeys; 37and if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not set out until the day that it was taken up. 38For the cloud of YHWH was on the tabernacle by day, and fire was in it by night, in the eyes of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.
