The Second Passover 1And YHWH spoke to Moses in the Wilderness of Sinai the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, in the first month, saying, 2“And let the sons of Israel keep the Passover at its appointed time. 3On the fourteenth day of this month, between the evenings,† you⁺ shall keep it at its appointed time. According to all its statutes and ordinances you⁺ shall keep it.” 4And Moses spoke to the sons of Israel, that they should keep the Passover. 5And they kept the Passover in the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, between the evenings, in the Wilderness of Sinai; according to all that YHWH commanded Moses, so the sons of Israel did. 6And there were men who were defiled by the body of a man, so that they could not keep the Passover on that day. And they came before the face of Moses and Aaron that day. 7And those men said to him, “We are defiled by the body of a man; why are we restrained from presenting the offering of YHWH at its appointed time among the sons of Israel?” 8And Moses said to them, “Stand still, that I may hear what YHWH commands concerning you⁺.” 9And YHWH spoke to Moses, saying, 10“Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘If any man is unclean by a body or on a journey far away from you⁺ or your⁺ posterity, he may still keep the Passover of YHWH. 11In the second month, on the fourteenth day, between the evenings they may keep it; with unleavened bread and bitter herbs they shall eat it. 12They shall leave none of it until morning, and a bone of it they shall not break. According to all the ordinances of the Passover, they shall keep it. 13And the man who is clean, and not on a journey, and ceases to keep the Passover, that person shall be cut off from among his people, because he did not bring the offering of YHWH at its appointed time. That man, he shall bear His sin. 14And if a sojourner dwells among you⁺ and would keep the Passover of YHWH, according to the statute of the Passover and according to its ordinance, so he must do; one ordinance you shall have unto you⁺ and unto the sojourner and unto the native of the land.’” The Cloud above the Tabernacle 15And on the day that the tabernacle was raised up, the cloud covered the tabernacle, the Tent of the Testimony. And from the evening it was above the tabernacle, like the appearance of fire, until morning. 16So it was continually: The cloud covered it by day,† then the appearance of fire by night. 17And Whenever the cloud was taken up from above the tabernacle, after that the sons of Israel would journey. And in the place where the cloud settled, there the sons of Israel would encamp. 18At the mouth of YHWH the sons of Israel would journey, and at the mouth of YHWH they would camp. All the days that the cloud remained above the tabernacle, they camped. 19And when the cloud continued long above the tabernacle many days, the sons of Israel kept the charge of YHWH and did not journey. 20And it was, when the cloud was a few days above the tabernacle, according to the command of YHWH, that they would remain encamped. And according to the mouth of YHWH they would journey. 21And it was, when the cloud remained only from evening until morning, and the cloud was taken up in the morning, that they would journey. Whether by day or by night, whenever the cloud was taken up, they would journey. 22Whether it was two days or a month or a year that the cloud remained above the tabernacle, remaining over it, the sons of Israel camped and did not journey; and when it was lifted up, they would journey. 23At the mouth of YHWH they remained encamped, and at the mouth of YHWH they journeyed; they kept the charge of YHWH, at the mouth of YHWH by the hand of Moses.
