Punishments for Disobedience
(Leviticus 26:14–39; Deuteronomy 28:15–68)

1And YHWH spoke to Moses, saying, 2“And to the sons of Israel you shall say, ‘Any man of the sons of Israel or from the sojourner sojourning in Israel who gives of his seed to Molech, he must surely be put to death. The people of the land shall stone him with stones. 3And I will set My face against that man and will cut him off from his people, for of his seed he has given to Molech to defile My sanctuary and profane My holy name.

4And if the people of the land ever hide their eyes from that man when he gives of his seed to Molech, and they do not kill him, 5then I will set My face against that man and against his family, and I will cut him off—and all who prostitute themselves with him to commit prostitution with Molech—from the midst of their people.

6And the person who turns to the mediums and to the spiritists to prostitute himself with them, I will set My face against that person and cut him off from his people.

7And consecrate yourselves and be holy, for I am YHWH your⁺ God. 8And you⁺ shall keep My statutes and perform them. I am YHWH who sanctifies you⁺.

9For any man who curses† his father or his mother, he must surely be put to death.† His father or his mother He has cursed; his blood is on him.

Punishments for Sexual Immorality
(Proverbs 5:1–23; 1 Corinthians 5:1–8)

10And the man who commits adultery with the wife of a man—who commits adultery with the wife of his neighbor—the adulterer and the adulteress must surely be put to death.

11And the man who lies with the wife of his father has uncovered the nakedness of his father—both of them must surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.

12And a man, if he lies with his daughter-in-law, both of them must surely be put to death. They have committed perversion; their blood is on them.

13And a man, if he lies with a male as he lies with a woman, the two of them have committed an abomination. They must surely be put to death; their blood is on them.

14And a man, if he marries a woman and her mother, it is wickedness. They shall be burned with the fire, he and they, that there may not be wickedness among you⁺.

15And a man who commits his copulation with an animal, he must surely be put to death, and the animal you⁺ shall kill.

16And a woman, if she approaches unto any animal and mates with it, then you shall kill the woman and the animal. They must surely be put to death; their blood is on them.

17And a man, if he takes his sister, a daughter of his father or a daughter of his mother, and sees her nakedness and she sees his nakedness,† it is a wicked thing, and they shall be cut off in the eyes of their people. He has uncovered the nakedness of his sister; he shall bear his guilt.

18And a man, if he lies with a menstruating woman and uncovers her nakedness,† he has exposed her flow and she has uncovered the flow of her blood. And the two of them shall be cut off from their people.

19And the nakedness of the sister of your mother or the sister of your father you shall not uncover, because he would uncover his near of kin. They shall bear their guilt.

20And a man, if he lies with his aunt, he has uncovered the nakedness of his uncle; they shall bear their sin. They shall die childless.

21And a man, if he takes the wife of his brother, it is an unclean thing. He has uncovered the nakedness of his brother. They shall be childless.

Distinguish between Clean and Unclean

22And you⁺ shall keep all My statutes and all My ordinances, and perform them, that the land where I am bringing you⁺ there to dwell may not vomit you⁺ out. 23And you⁺ shall not walk in the statutes of the nation that I am casting out before you⁺, for all these things they commit, and I abhor them.

24And I have said to you⁺ that you⁺ shall inherit their land, and I will give it to you⁺ to possess it—a land flowing with milk and honey. I am YHWH your⁺ God, who has separated you⁺ from the peoples.

25And you⁺ shall distinguish between the clean and between the unclean animals, and between the unclean and between the clean birds; and you⁺ shall not make yourselves abominable by the beast or by the bird or by any kind of living thing that creeps on the ground, which I have separated from you⁺ as unclean. 26And you⁺ shall be holy to Me, for I, YHWH, am holy; and I have separated you⁺ from the peoples, that you should be unto Me.

27And a man or a woman who is a medium or spiritist, they must surely be put to death. With stones they shall stone them. Their blood is on them.’”
