1 Maccabees 16:7
Good News Translation
John divided his army and placed his cavalry in the middle of the infantry, because there was a large number of enemy cavalry.

Then he divided the army and placed the cavalry in the center of the infantry, for the cavalry of the enemy were very numerous.

John noticed that Cendebeus had a lot of cavalry. So John divided his men into groups and ordered them to take up positions around their own cavalry.
