Good News Translation
David grew homesick and said, "How I wish someone would bring me a drink of water from the well by the gate at Bethlehem!"

David said longingly, “O that someone would give me water to drink from the well of Bethlehem that is by the gate!”

and he was very thirsty. He said, "I wish I had a drink from the well by the gate at Bethlehem."
