1Paul and Silvanus and Timothy to the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
2Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 3We ought to always thank God concerning you, brothers, just as it is deserving because your faith is exceedingly increasing and the love of each one of you all is abounding unto one another; 4So that we ourselves boast in you in the churches of God for your endurance and faith in all your persecutions and the tribulations that you are sustaining (holing up, bearing up, latin-sustinetis like sustain); 5An exemplary indication (plain token of proof, sign, indication, evidence, latin-exemplum-example) of the righteous (just) judgment of God unto you being weighed worthy (count/deem worthy) of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer (are acted on); 6If so it is righteous (just) from close beside God to repay (give in return, give back correspondingly, latin-retribuere-requite) in tribulation to those troubling (causing tribulation, latin-tribulant-trouble like tribulating) you, 7And to you being troubled (caused tribulation), repose (rest, relief, liberty, easing, loosening, relaxation, latin-requiem-rest) with us in the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with His mighty (powerful) angels, 8In a fire of flame (latin-in flamma ignis- in flame of fire), giving vindication (vengeance, from out of justice/righteousness, latin-vindictam) on those not knowing (perceiving, seeing that becomes knowing) God and on those not complying (obeying, listening, hearkening, to under hear) to the gospel of our Lord Jesus; 9Who will pay the just penalty of unending (eternal, age-long) ruination (destruction not extinction/annihilation) away from the face of the Lord and away from the glory of His mighty strength (force to overcome immediate resistance); 10When He will come to be glorified in His saints and to be wonderously admired (admired, marveled at, wondered at, amazed at, latin-admirabilis) in all those having believed, because our testimony was believed (entrusted) upon you in that day. 11Unto which also we always pray concerning you, so that you might be deemed worthy (reckoned worthy, latin-dignetur like dignified) of the calling of our God and might fulfill (complete, fill) every good pleasure of goodness and work of faith in power, 12So that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you and you in Him according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. |
