Berean Study BibleEnglish Standard Version
A Psalm of David, when he fled from his son Absalom. O LORD, how my foes have increased! How many rise up against me!1O LORD, how many are my foes! Many are rising against me;
Many say of me, “God will not deliver him.” Selah2many are saying of my soul, “There is no salvation for him in God.” Selah
But You, O LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, and the One who lifts my head.3But you, O LORD, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.
To the LORD I cry aloud, and He answers me from His holy mountain. Selah4I cried aloud to the LORD, and he answered me from his holy hill. Selah
I lie down and sleep; I wake again, for the LORD sustains me.5I lay down and slept; I woke again, for the LORD sustained me.
I will not fear the myriads set against me on every side.6I will not be afraid of many thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around.
Arise, O LORD! Save me, O my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked.7Arise, O LORD! Save me, O my God! For you strike all my enemies on the cheek; you break the teeth of the wicked.
Salvation belongs to the LORD; may Your blessing be on Your people. Selah8Salvation belongs to the LORD; your blessing be on your people! Selah
