For the choirmaster. Of David. In the LORD I take refuge. How then can you say to me: “Flee like a bird to your mountain!1To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?
For behold, the wicked bend their bows. They set their arrow on the string to shoot from the shadows at the upright in heart.2For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.
If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?”3If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?
The LORD is in His holy temple; the LORD is on His heavenly throne. His eyes are watching closely; they examine the sons of men.4The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD'S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.
The LORD tests the righteous and the wicked; His soul hates the lover of violence.5The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.
On the wicked He will rain down fiery coals and sulfur; a scorching wind will be their portion.6Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.
For the LORD is righteous; He loves justice. The upright will see His face.7For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.
