For the choirmaster. With stringed instruments. A Maskil of David. When the Ziphites went to Saul and said, “Is David not hiding among us?” Save me, O God, by Your name, and vindicate me by Your might!1For the choir director; on stringed instruments. A Maskil of David, when the Ziphites came and said to Saul, "Is not David hiding himself among us?" Save me, O God, by Your name, And vindicate me by Your power.
Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth.2Hear my prayer, O God; Give ear to the words of my mouth.
For strangers rise up against me, and ruthless men seek my life—men with no regard for God. Selah3For strangers have risen against me And violent men have sought my life; They have not set God before them. Selah.
Surely God is my helper; the Lord is the sustainer of my soul.4Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is the sustainer of my soul.
He will reward my enemies with evil. In Your faithfulness, destroy them.5He will recompense the evil to my foes; Destroy them in Your faithfulness.
Freely I will sacrifice to You; I will praise Your name, O LORD, for it is good.6Willingly I will sacrifice to You; I will give thanks to Your name, O LORD, for it is good.
For He has delivered me from every trouble, and my eyes have stared down my foes.7For He has delivered me from all trouble, And my eye has looked with satisfaction upon my enemies.
