Psalm 17
BSB Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Berean Study BibleNew Living Translation
A prayer of David. Hear, O LORD, my righteous plea; listen to my cry. Give ear to my prayer—it comes from lips free of deceit.1O LORD, hear my plea for justice. Listen to my cry for help. Pay attention to my prayer, for it comes from honest lips.
May my vindication come from Your presence; may Your eyes see what is right.2Declare me innocent, for you see those who do right.
You have tried my heart; You have visited me in the night. You have tested me and found no evil; I have resolved not to sin with my mouth.3You have tested my thoughts and examined my heart in the night. You have scrutinized me and found nothing wrong. I am determined not to sin in what I say.
As for the deeds of men—by the word of Your lips I have avoided the ways of the violent.4I have followed your commands, which keep me from following cruel and evil people.
My steps have held to Your paths; my feet have not slipped.5My steps have stayed on your path; I have not wavered from following you.
I call on You, O God, for You will answer me. Incline Your ear to me; hear my words.6I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God. Bend down and listen as I pray.
Show the wonders of Your loving devotion, You who save by Your right hand those who seek refuge from their foes.7Show me your unfailing love in wonderful ways. By your mighty power you rescue those who seek refuge from their enemies.
Keep me as the apple of Your eye; hide me in the shadow of Your wings8Guard me as you would guard your own eyes. Hide me in the shadow of your wings.
from the wicked who assail me, from my mortal enemies who surround me.9Protect me from wicked people who attack me, from murderous enemies who surround me.
They have closed their callous hearts; their mouths speak with arrogance.10They are without pity. Listen to their boasting!
They have tracked us down, and now surround us; their eyes are set to cast us to the ground,11They track me down and surround me, watching for the chance to throw me to the ground.
like a lion greedy for prey, like a young lion lurking in ambush.12They are like hungry lions, eager to tear me apart— like young lions hiding in ambush.
Arise, O LORD, confront them! Bring them to their knees; deliver me from the wicked by Your sword,13Arise, O LORD! Stand against them, and bring them to their knees! Rescue me from the wicked with your sword!
from such men, O LORD, by Your hand—from men of the world whose portion is in this life. May You fill the bellies of Your treasured ones and satisfy their sons, so they leave their abundance to their children.14By the power of your hand, O LORD, destroy those who look to this world for their reward. But satisfy the hunger of your treasured ones. May their children have plenty, leaving an inheritance for their descendants.
As for me, I will behold Your face in righteousness; when I awake, I will be satisfied in Your presence.15Because I am righteous, I will see you. When I awake, I will see you face to face and be satisfied.
