Christian Standard Bible | English Standard Version |
I love the LORD because he has heard my appeal for mercy. | 1I love the LORD, because he has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy. |
Because he has turned his ear to me, I will call out to him as long as I live. | 2Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live. |
The ropes of death were wrapped around me, and the torments of Sheol overcame me; I encountered trouble and sorrow. | 3The snares of death encompassed me; the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me; I suffered distress and anguish. |
Then I called on the name of the LORD: "LORD, save me!" | 4Then I called on the name of the LORD: “O LORD, I pray, deliver my soul!” |
The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is compassionate. | 5Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; our God is merciful. |
The LORD guards the inexperienced; I was helpless, and he saved me. | 6The LORD preserves the simple; when I was brought low, he saved me. |
Return to your rest, my soul, for the LORD has been good to you. | 7Return, O my soul, to your rest; for the LORD has dealt bountifully with you. |
For you, LORD, rescued me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling. | 8For you have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling; |
I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living. | 9I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living. |
I believed, even when I said, "I am severely oppressed." | 10I believed, even when I spoke: “I am greatly afflicted”; |
In my alarm I said, "Everyone is a liar." | 11I said in my alarm, “All mankind are liars.” |
How can I repay the LORD for all the good he has done for me? | 12What shall I render to the LORD for all his benefits to me? |
I will take the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD. | 13I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD, |
I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people. | 14I will pay my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people. |
The death of his faithful ones is valuable in the LORD's sight. | 15Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. |
LORD, I am indeed your servant; I am your servant, the son of your female servant. You have loosened my bonds. | 16O LORD, I am your servant; I am your servant, the son of your maidservant. You have loosed my bonds. |
I will offer you a sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the LORD. | 17I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the LORD. |
I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people, | 18I will pay my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people, |
in the courts of the LORD's house--within you, Jerusalem. Hallelujah! | 19in the courts of the house of the LORD, in your midst, O Jerusalem. Praise the LORD! |
