Christian Standard Bible | English Standard Version |
I rejoiced with those who said to me, "Let us go to the house of the LORD." | 1I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the LORD!” |
Our feet were standing within your gates, Jerusalem-- | 2Our feet have been standing within your gates, O Jerusalem! |
Jerusalem, built as a city should be, solidly united, | 3Jerusalem—built as a city that is bound firmly together, |
where the tribes, the LORD's tribes, go up to give thanks to the name of the LORD. (This is an ordinance for Israel.) | 4to which the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, as was decreed for Israel, to give thanks to the name of the LORD. |
There, thrones for judgment are placed, thrones of the house of David. | 5There thrones for judgment were set, the thrones of the house of David. |
Pray for the well-being of Jerusalem: "May those who love you be secure; | 6Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! “May they be secure who love you! |
may there be peace within your walls, security within your fortresses." | 7Peace be within your walls and security within your towers!” |
Because of my brothers and friends, I will say, "May peace be in you." | 8For my brothers and companions’ sake I will say, “Peace be within you!” |
Because of the house of the LORD our God, I will pursue your prosperity. | 9For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your good. |
