Christian Standard Bible | New Living Translation |
I will exalt you, LORD, because you have lifted me up and have not allowed my enemies to triumph over me. | 1I will exalt you, LORD, for you rescued me. You refused to let my enemies triumph over me. |
LORD my God, I cried to you for help, and you healed me. | 2O LORD my God, I cried to you for help, and you restored my health. |
LORD, you brought me up from Sheol; you spared me from among those going down to the Pit. | 3You brought me up from the grave, O LORD. You kept me from falling into the pit of death. |
Sing to the LORD, you his faithful ones, and praise his holy name. | 4Sing to the LORD, all you godly ones! Praise his holy name. |
For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor, a lifetime. Weeping may stay overnight, but there is joy in the morning. | 5For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime! Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning. |
When I was secure, I said, "I will never be shaken." | 6When I was prosperous, I said, “Nothing can stop me now!” |
LORD, when you showed your favor, you made me stand like a strong mountain; when you hid your face, I was terrified. | 7Your favor, O LORD, made me as secure as a mountain. Then you turned away from me, and I was shattered. |
LORD, I called to you; I sought favor from my Lord: | 8I cried out to you, O LORD. I begged the Lord for mercy, saying, |
"What gain is there in my death, if I go down to the Pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it proclaim your truth? | 9“What will you gain if I die, if I sink into the grave? Can my dust praise you? Can it tell of your faithfulness? |
LORD, listen and be gracious to me; LORD, be my helper." | 10Hear me, LORD, and have mercy on me. Help me, O LORD.” |
You turned my lament into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, | 11You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy, |
so that I can sing to you and not be silent. LORD my God, I will praise you forever. | 12that I might sing praises to you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever! |
