English Standard VersionBerean Study Bible
I cry aloud to God, aloud to God, and he will hear me.1For the choirmaster. According to Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph. I cried out to God; I cried aloud to God to hear me.
In the day of my trouble I seek the Lord; in the night my hand is stretched out without wearying; my soul refuses to be comforted.2In the day of trouble I sought the Lord; through the night my outstretched hands did not grow weary; my soul refused to be comforted.
When I remember God, I moan; when I meditate, my spirit faints. Selah3I remembered You, O God, and I groaned; I mused and my spirit grew faint. Selah
You hold my eyelids open; I am so troubled that I cannot speak.4You have kept my eyes from closing; I am too troubled to speak.
I consider the days of old, the years long ago.5I considered the days of old, the years long in the past.
I said, “Let me remember my song in the night; let me meditate in my heart.” Then my spirit made a diligent search:6At night I remembered my song; in my heart I mused, and my spirit pondered:
“Will the Lord spurn forever, and never again be favorable?7“Will the Lord spurn us forever and never show His favor again?
Has his steadfast love forever ceased? Are his promises at an end for all time?8Is His loving devotion gone forever? Has His promise failed for all time?
Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he in anger shut up his compassion?” Selah9Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has His anger shut off His compassion?” Selah
Then I said, “I will appeal to this, to the years of the right hand of the Most High.”10So I said, “I am grieved that the right hand of the Most High has changed.”
I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your wonders of old.11I will remember the works of the LORD; yes, I will remember Your wonders of old.
I will ponder all your work, and meditate on your mighty deeds.12I will reflect on all You have done and ponder Your mighty deeds.
Your way, O God, is holy. What god is great like our God?13Your way, O God, is holy. What god is so great as our God?
You are the God who works wonders; you have made known your might among the peoples.14You are the God who works wonders; You display Your strength among the peoples.
You with your arm redeemed your people, the children of Jacob and Joseph. Selah15With power You redeemed Your people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah
When the waters saw you, O God, when the waters saw you, they were afraid; indeed, the deep trembled.16The waters saw You, O God; the waters saw You and swirled; even the depths were shaken.
The clouds poured out water; the skies gave forth thunder; your arrows flashed on every side.17The clouds poured down water; the skies resounded with thunder; Your arrows flashed back and forth.
The crash of your thunder was in the whirlwind; your lightnings lighted up the world; the earth trembled and shook.18Your thunder resounded in the whirlwind; the lightning lit up the world; the earth trembled and quaked.
Your way was through the sea, your path through the great waters; yet your footprints were unseen.19Your path led through the sea, Your way through the mighty waters, but Your footprints were not to be found.
You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.20You led Your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
