English Standard VersionHolman Christian Standard Bible
I cry aloud to God, aloud to God, and he will hear me.1For the choir director: according to Jeduthun. Of Asaph. A psalm. I cry aloud to God, aloud to God, and He will hear me.
In the day of my trouble I seek the Lord; in the night my hand is stretched out without wearying; my soul refuses to be comforted.2I sought the Lord in my day of trouble. My hands were continually lifted up all night long; I refused to be comforted.
When I remember God, I moan; when I meditate, my spirit faints. Selah3I think of God; I groan; I meditate; my spirit becomes weak. Selah
You hold my eyelids open; I am so troubled that I cannot speak.4You have kept me from closing my eyes; I am troubled and cannot speak.
I consider the days of old, the years long ago.5I consider days of old, years long past.
I said, “Let me remember my song in the night; let me meditate in my heart.” Then my spirit made a diligent search:6At night I remember my music; I meditate in my heart, and my spirit ponders."
“Will the Lord spurn forever, and never again be favorable?7Will the Lord reject forever and never again show favor?
Has his steadfast love forever ceased? Are his promises at an end for all time?8Has His faithful love ceased forever? Is His promise at an end for all generations?
Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he in anger shut up his compassion?” Selah9Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has He in anger withheld His compassion?" Selah
Then I said, “I will appeal to this, to the years of the right hand of the Most High.”10So I say, "I am grieved that the right hand of the Most High has changed."
I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your wonders of old.11I will remember the LORD's works; yes, I will remember Your ancient wonders.
I will ponder all your work, and meditate on your mighty deeds.12I will reflect on all You have done and meditate on Your actions.
Your way, O God, is holy. What god is great like our God?13God, Your way is holy. What god is great like God?
You are the God who works wonders; you have made known your might among the peoples.14You are the God who works wonders; You revealed Your strength among the peoples.
You with your arm redeemed your people, the children of Jacob and Joseph. Selah15With power You redeemed Your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph. Selah
When the waters saw you, O God, when the waters saw you, they were afraid; indeed, the deep trembled.16The waters saw You, God. The waters saw You; they trembled. Even the depths shook.
The clouds poured out water; the skies gave forth thunder; your arrows flashed on every side.17The clouds poured down water. The storm clouds thundered; Your arrows flashed back and forth.
The crash of your thunder was in the whirlwind; your lightnings lighted up the world; the earth trembled and shook.18The sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; lightning lit up the world. The earth shook and quaked.
Your way was through the sea, your path through the great waters; yet your footprints were unseen.19Your way went through the sea and Your path through the great waters, but Your footprints were unseen.
You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.20You led Your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
