Psalm 132
English Standard VersionNET Bible
Remember, O LORD, in David’s favor, all the hardships he endured,1A song of ascents. O LORD, for David's sake remember all his strenuous effort,
how he swore to the LORD and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob,2and how he made a vow to the LORD, and swore an oath to the powerful ruler of Jacob.
“I will not enter my house or get into my bed,3He said, "I will not enter my own home, or get into my bed.
I will not give sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids,4I will not allow my eyes to sleep, or my eyelids to slumber,
until I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.”5until I find a place for the LORD, a fine dwelling place for the powerful ruler of Jacob."
Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah; we found it in the fields of Jaar.6Look, we heard about it in Ephrathah, we found it in the territory of Jaar.
“Let us go to his dwelling place; let us worship at his footstool!”7Let us go to his dwelling place! Let us worship before his footstool!
Arise, O LORD, and go to your resting place, you and the ark of your might.8Ascend, O LORD, to your resting place, you and the ark of your strength!
Let your priests be clothed with righteousness, and let your saints shout for joy.9May your priests be clothed with integrity! May your loyal followers shout for joy!
For the sake of your servant David, do not turn away the face of your anointed one.10For the sake of David, your servant, do not reject your chosen king!
The LORD swore to David a sure oath from which he will not turn back: “One of the sons of your body I will set on your throne.11The LORD made a reliable promise to David; he will not go back on his word. He said, "I will place one of your descendants on your throne.
If your sons keep my covenant and my testimonies that I shall teach them, their sons also forever shall sit on your throne.”12If your sons keep my covenant and the rules I teach them, their sons will also sit on your throne forever."
For the LORD has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his dwelling place:13Certainly the LORD has chosen Zion; he decided to make it his home.
“This is my resting place forever; here I will dwell, for I have desired it.14He said, "This will be my resting place forever; I will live here, for I have chosen it.
I will abundantly bless her provisions; I will satisfy her poor with bread.15I will abundantly supply what she needs; I will give her poor all the food they need.
Her priests I will clothe with salvation, and her saints will shout for joy.16I will protect her priests, and her godly people will shout exuberantly.
There I will make a horn to sprout for David; I have prepared a lamp for my anointed.17There I will make David strong; I have determined that my chosen king's dynasty will continue.
His enemies I will clothe with shame, but on him his crown will shine.”18I will humiliate his enemies, and his crown will shine.
