| 2For he flatters himself in his own eyes that his iniquity cannot be found out and hated. | 2for he is too proud to recognize and give up his sin. |
| 3The words of his mouth are trouble and deceit; he has ceased to act wisely and do good. | 3The words he speaks are sinful and deceitful; he does not care about doing what is wise and right. |
| 4He plots trouble while on his bed; he sets himself in a way that is not good; he does not reject evil. | 4He plans ways to sin while he lies in bed; he is committed to a sinful lifestyle; he does not reject what is evil. |
| 5Your steadfast love, O LORD, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds. | 5O LORD, your loyal love reaches to the sky; your faithfulness to the clouds. |
