Psalm 36
ESV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
English Standard VersionNew Living Translation
Transgression speaks to the wicked deep in his heart; there is no fear of God before his eyes.1Sin whispers to the wicked, deep within their hearts. They have no fear of God at all.
For he flatters himself in his own eyes that his iniquity cannot be found out and hated.2In their blind conceit, they cannot see how wicked they really are.
The words of his mouth are trouble and deceit; he has ceased to act wisely and do good.3Everything they say is crooked and deceitful. They refuse to act wisely or do good.
He plots trouble while on his bed; he sets himself in a way that is not good; he does not reject evil.4They lie awake at night, hatching sinful plots. Their actions are never good. They make no attempt to turn from evil.
Your steadfast love, O LORD, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds.5Your unfailing love, O LORD, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds.
Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; your judgments are like the great deep; man and beast you save, O LORD.6Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the ocean depths. You care for people and animals alike, O LORD.
How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings.7How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings.
They feast on the abundance of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights.8You feed them from the abundance of your own house, letting them drink from your river of delights.
For with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light.9For you are the fountain of life, the light by which we see.
Oh, continue your steadfast love to those who know you, and your righteousness to the upright of heart!10Pour out your unfailing love on those who love you; give justice to those with honest hearts.
Let not the foot of arrogance come upon me, nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.11Don’t let the proud trample me or the wicked push me around.
There the evildoers lie fallen; they are thrust down, unable to rise.12Look! Those who do evil have fallen! They are thrown down, never to rise again.
