English Standard Version | New Living Translation |
Vindicate me, O God, and defend my cause against an ungodly people, from the deceitful and unjust man deliver me! | 1Declare me innocent, O God! Defend me against these ungodly people. Rescue me from these unjust liars. |
For you are the God in whom I take refuge; why have you rejected me? Why do I go about mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? | 2For you are God, my only safe haven. Why have you tossed me aside? Why must I wander around in grief, oppressed by my enemies? |
Send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling! | 3Send out your light and your truth; let them guide me. Let them lead me to your holy mountain, to the place where you live. |
Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy, and I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God. | 4There I will go to the altar of God, to God—the source of all my joy. I will praise you with my harp, O God, my God! |
Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God. | 5Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and my God! |
