Holman Christian Standard Bible | English Standard Version |
A Davidic Miktam. Protect me, God, for I take refuge in You. | 1Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge. |
I said to Yahweh, "You are my Lord; I have nothing good besides You." | 2I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.” |
As for the holy people who are in the land, they are the noble ones. All my delight is in them. | 3As for the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight. |
The sorrows of those who take another god for themselves will multiply; I will not pour out their drink offerings of blood, and I will not speak their names with my lips. | 4The sorrows of those who run after another god shall multiply; their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out or take their names on my lips. |
LORD, You are my portion and my cup of blessing; You hold my future. | 5The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot. |
The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance. | 6The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance. |
I will praise the LORD who counsels me-- even at night my conscience instructs me. | 7I bless the LORD who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. |
I keep the LORD in mind always. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. | 8I have set the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. |
Therefore my heart is glad and my spirit rejoices; my body also rests securely. | 9Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. |
For You will not abandon me to Sheol; You will not allow Your Faithful One to see decay. | 10For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption. |
You reveal the path of life to me; in Your presence is abundant joy; in Your right hand are eternal pleasures. | 11You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. |
