Holman Christian Standard BibleKing James Bible
A song. A psalm of the sons of Korah. The LORD is great and highly praised in the city of our God. His holy mountain, 1A Song and Psalm for the sons of Korah. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.
rising splendidly, is the joy of the whole earth. Mount Zion on the slopes of the north is the city of the great King. 2Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.
God is known as a stronghold in its citadels. 3God is known in her palaces for a refuge.
Look! The kings assembled; they advanced together. 4For, lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together.
They looked and froze with fear; they fled in terror. 5They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled, and hasted away.
Trembling seized them there, agony like that of a woman in labor, 6Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail.
as You wrecked the ships of Tarshish with the east wind. 7Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.
Just as we heard, so we have seen in the city of Yahweh of Hosts, in the city of our God; God will establish it forever. Selah 8As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah.
God, within Your temple, we contemplate Your faithful love. 9We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.
Your name, God, like Your praise, reaches to the ends of the earth; Your right hand is filled with justice. 10According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness.
Mount Zion is glad. The towns of Judah rejoice because of Your judgments. 11Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments.
Go around Zion, encircle it; count its towers, 12Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof.
note its ramparts; tour its citadels so that you can tell a future generation:" 13Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following.
This God, our God forever and ever-- He will always lead us." 14For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.
