Holman Christian Standard Bible | New Living Translation |
For the choir director. A song. A psalm. Shout joyfully to God, all the earth! | 1Shout joyful praises to God, all the earth! |
Sing about the glory of His name; make His praise glorious. | 2Sing about the glory of his name! Tell the world how glorious he is. |
Say to God, "How awe-inspiring are Your works! Your enemies will cringe before You because of Your great strength. | 3Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! Your enemies cringe before your mighty power. |
All the earth will worship You and sing praise to You. They will sing praise to Your name." Selah | 4Everything on earth will worship you; they will sing your praises, shouting your name in glorious songs.” Interlude |
Come and see the wonders of God; His acts for humanity are awe-inspiring. | 5Come and see what our God has done, what awesome miracles he performs for people! |
He turned the sea into dry land, and they crossed the river on foot. There we rejoiced in Him. | 6He made a dry path through the Red Sea, and his people went across on foot. There we rejoiced in him. |
He rules forever by His might; He keeps His eye on the nations. The rebellious should not exalt themselves. Selah | 7For by his great power he rules forever. He watches every movement of the nations; let no rebel rise in defiance. Interlude |
Praise our God, you peoples; let the sound of His praise be heard. | 8Let the whole world bless our God and loudly sing his praises. |
He keeps us alive and does not allow our feet to slip. | 9Our lives are in his hands, and he keeps our feet from stumbling. |
For You, God, tested us; You refined us as silver is refined. | 10You have tested us, O God; you have purified us like silver. |
You lured us into a trap; You placed burdens on our backs. | 11You captured us in your net and laid the burden of slavery on our backs. |
You let men ride over our heads; we went through fire and water, but You brought us out to abundance. | 12Then you put a leader over us. We went through fire and flood, but you brought us to a place of great abundance. |
I will enter Your house with burnt offerings; I will pay You my vows | 13Now I come to your Temple with burnt offerings to fulfill the vows I made to you— |
that my lips promised and my mouth spoke during my distress. | 14yes, the sacred vows that I made when I was in deep trouble. |
I will offer You fattened sheep as burnt offerings, with the fragrant smoke of rams; I will sacrifice oxen with goats. Selah | 15That is why I am sacrificing burnt offerings to you— the best of my rams as a pleasing aroma, and a sacrifice of bulls and male goats. Interlude |
Come and listen, all who fear God, and I will tell what He has done for me. | 16Come and listen, all you who fear God, and I will tell you what he did for me. |
I cried out to Him with my mouth, and praise was on my tongue. | 17For I cried out to him for help, praising him as I spoke. |
If I had been aware of malice in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. | 18If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. |
However, God has listened; He has paid attention to the sound of my prayer. | 19But God did listen! He paid attention to my prayer. |
May God be praised! He has not turned away my prayer or turned His faithful love from me. | 20Praise God, who did not ignore my prayer or withdraw his unfailing love from me. |
