Psalm 77
International Standard VersionBerean Study Bible
I cry out to God! I cry out to God and he hears me.1For the choirmaster. According to Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph. I cried out to God; I cried aloud to God to hear me.
When I was in distress, I sought the Lord; my hands were raised at night and they did not grow weary. I refused to be comforted.2In the day of trouble I sought the Lord; through the night my outstretched hands did not grow weary; my soul refused to be comforted.
I remember God, and I groan; I meditate, while my spirit grows faint. Interlude3I remembered You, O God, and I groaned; I mused and my spirit grew faint. Selah
You kept my eyes open; I was troubled and couldn't speak.4You have kept my eyes from closing; I am too troubled to speak.
I thought of ancient times, considering years long past.5I considered the days of old, the years long in the past.
During the night I remembered my song. I meditate in my heart, and my spirit ponders.6At night I remembered my song; in my heart I mused, and my spirit pondered:
Will the Lord reject me forever and not show favor again?7“Will the Lord spurn us forever and never show His favor again?
Has his gracious love ceased forever? Will his promise be unfulfilled in future generations?8Is His loving devotion gone forever? Has His promise failed for all time?
Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he in anger withheld his compassion? Interlude9Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has His anger shut off His compassion?” Selah
So I say: "It causes me pain that the right hand of the Most High has changed."10So I said, “I am grieved that the right hand of the Most High has changed.”
I will remember the LORD'S deeds; indeed, I will remember your awesome deeds from long ago.11I will remember the works of the LORD; yes, I will remember Your wonders of old.
As I meditate on all your works, I will consider your awesome deeds.12I will reflect on all You have done and ponder Your mighty deeds.
God, your way is holy. What god is like our great God?13Your way, O God, is holy. What god is so great as our God?
God, you are the one performing awesome deeds. You reveal your might among the nations.14You are the God who works wonders; You display Your strength among the peoples.
You delivered your people— the descendants of Jacob and Joseph— with your power. Interlude15With power You redeemed Your people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah
The waters saw you, God; the waters saw you and writhed. Indeed, the depths of the sea quaked.16The waters saw You, O God; the waters saw You and swirled; even the depths were shaken.
The clouds poured rain; the skies rumbled. Indeed, your lightning bolts flashed. 17The clouds poured down water; the skies resounded with thunder; Your arrows flashed back and forth.
Your thunderous sound was in a whirlwind; your lightning lights up the world; the earth becomes agitated and quakes.18Your thunder resounded in the whirlwind; the lightning lit up the world; the earth trembled and quaked.
Your way was through the sea, and your path through mighty waters, but your footprints cannot be traced. 19Your path led through the sea, Your way through the mighty waters, but Your footprints were not to be found.
You have led your people like a flock by the hands of Moses and Aaron.20You led Your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
