Moses ascended from the desert plain of Moab toward Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, across from Jericho. There the LORD showed him the entire land, from Gilgal as far as Dan, 1Then Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, which faces Jericho, and the LORD showed him all the land: Gilead as far as Dan,
all of Naphtali, the territories of Ephraim and Manasseh, and the entire territory of Judah all the way to out over the sea,2all of Naphtali, the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the Mediterranean Sea,
including the Negev, the Arabah, the valley of Jericho, and the city of the palm trees as far as Zoar. 3the Negev, and the plain in the Valley of Jericho, the City of Palms, as far as Zoar.
Then the LORD told him: "This is the land that I promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob by an oath when I said, 'I'll give it to your descendants.' I'll let you see it with your eyes, but you won't cross over there."4The LORD then said to him, "This is the land I promised Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, 'I will give it to your descendants.' I have let you see it with your own eyes, but you will not cross into it."
So Moses, the servant of the LORD, died there in the land of Moab, just as the LORD had said.5So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the LORD's word.
He was buried in the valley opposite Beth Peor, in the land of Moab, but no one knows to this day where his burial place is. 6He buried him in the valley in the land of Moab facing Beth-peor, and no one to this day knows where his grave is.
Moses was 120 years old when he died. His eyesight wasn't impaired and he was still vigorous and strong. 7Moses was one hundred twenty years old when he died; his eyes were not weak, and his vitality had not left him.
The Israelis mourned for Moses at the desert plain of Moab for 30 days, after which the period of mourning for Moses was completed.8The Israelites wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days. Then the days of weeping and mourning for Moses came to an end.
Now Nun's son Joshua was full of the spirit of wisdom, because Moses had placed his hands on him, so Israelis listened to him and did what the LORD had commanded Moses. 9Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelites obeyed him and did as the LORD had commanded Moses.
No prophet ever rose again in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew with such great intimacy. 10No prophet has arisen again in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face.
What signs and wonders the LORD sent him to do throughout the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh, and to all of his servants who lived in the whole land!11He was unparalleled for all the signs and wonders the LORD sent him to do against the land of Egypt--to Pharaoh, to all his officials, and to all his land,
What great power and great terror Moses displayed on behalf of all Israel!12and for all the mighty acts of power and terrifying deeds that Moses performed in the sight of all Israel.
