When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices to go and anoint Jesus.1When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they could go and anoint him.
Very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had just come up, they were going to the tomb. 2Very early in the morning, on the first day of the week, they went to the tomb at sunrise.
They kept saying to one another, "Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?" 3They were saying to one another, "Who will roll away the stone from the entrance to the tomb for us?"
Then they looked up and saw that the stone had been rolled away. (It was a very large stone.)4Looking up, they noticed that the stone--which was very large--had been rolled away.
As they went into the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were utterly astonished. 5When they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side; they were alarmed.
But he told them, "Stop being astonished! You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised. He is not here. Look at the place where they laid him. 6"Don't be alarmed," he told them. "You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they put him.
But go and tell his disciples—especially Peter—that Jesus is going ahead of you to Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you."7But go, tell his disciples and Peter, 'He is going ahead of you to Galilee; you will see him there just as he told you.'"
So they left the tomb and ran away, overwhelmed by shock and astonishment. They didn't say a thing to anyone, because they were afraid. 8They went out and ran from the tomb, because trembling and astonishment overwhelmed them. And they said nothing to anyone, since they were afraid.
After Jesus had risen early on the first day of that week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had driven out seven demons. 9Early on the first day of the week, after he had risen, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had driven seven demons.
She went and told those who had been with Jesus and who now were grieving and crying. 10She went and reported to those who had been with him, as they were mourning and weeping.
When they heard that he was alive and that he had been seen by her, they refused to believe Mary. 11Yet, when they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe it.
After this, Jesus appeared in a different form to two disciples as they were walking into the country. 12After this, he appeared in a different form to two of them walking on their way into the country.
They went back and told the others, who didn't believe them, either.13And they went and reported it to the rest, who did not believe them either.
Finally he appeared to his eleven disciples while they were eating. He rebuked them for their unbelief and stubbornness, because they had not believed those who had seen him after he had risen. 14Later he appeared to the Eleven themselves as they were reclining at the table. He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who saw him after he had risen.
Then he told them, "As you go into all the world, proclaim the gospel to everyone.15Then he said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever doesn't believe will be condemned. 16Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
These are the signs that will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons. they will speak in new languages.17And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues;
and they will pick up snakes with their hands. Even if they drink any deadly poison it will not hurt them; and the'll place their hands on the sick, and they'll recover."18they will pick up snakes; if they should drink anything deadly, it will not harm them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will get well."
So the Lord Jesus, after talking with his disciples, was taken up to heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. 19So the Lord Jesus, after speaking to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.
Then his disciples went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord kept working with them and confirming the message by the signs that accompanied it.20And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word by the accompanying signs.]
