Hallelujah! It is good to sing praise to our God, and it is fitting to sing glorious praise. | 1Hallelujah! How good it is to sing to our God, for praise is pleasant and lovely. |
The LORD rebuilds Jerusalem; he gathers together the outcasts of Israel. | 2The LORD rebuilds Jerusalem; he gathers Israel's exiled people. |
He heals the brokenhearted, binding up their injuries. | 3He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds. |
He keeps track of the number of stars, assigning names to all of them. | 4He counts the number of the stars; he gives names to all of them. |
Our Lord is great, and rich in power; his understanding has no limitation. | 5Our Lord is great, vast in power; his understanding is infinite. |
The LORD supports the afflicted while he casts the wicked to the ground. | 6The LORD helps the oppressed but brings the wicked to the ground. |
Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving, and compose music to our God with the lyre. | 7Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; play the lyre to our God, |
He shields the heavens with clouds, preparing rain for the earth and making grass grow on the hills. | 8who covers the sky with clouds, prepares rain for the earth, and causes grass to grow on the hills. |
He gives wild animals their food, including the young ravens when they cry. | 9He provides the animals with their food, and the young ravens, what they cry for. |
He takes no delight in the strength of a horse, and gains no pleasure in the runner's swiftness. | 10He is not impressed by the strength of a horse; he does not value the power of a warrior. |
But the LORD is pleased with those who fear him, with those who depend on his gracious love. | 11The LORD values those who fear him, those who put their hope in his faithful love. |
Glorify the LORD, Jerusalem! Praise your God, Zion! | 12Exalt the LORD, Jerusalem; praise your God, Zion! |
For he has strengthened the bars of your gates, blessing your children within you. | 13For he strengthens the bars of your city gates and blesses your children within you. |
He grants peace within your borders, satisfying you with the finest of wheat. | 14He endows your territory with prosperity; he satisfies you with the finest wheat. |
He sends out his command to the earth, making his word go forth quickly. | 15He sends his command throughout the earth; his word runs swiftly. |
He supplies snow like wool, scattering frost like ashes. | 16He spreads snow like wool; he scatters frost like ashes; |
He casts down his ice crystals like bread fragments. Who can endure his freezing cold? | 17he throws his hailstones like crumbs. Who can withstand his cold? |
He sends out his word and melts them. He makes his wind blow and the water flows. | 18He sends his word and melts them; he unleashes his winds, and the water flows. |
He declares his words to Jacob, his statutes and decrees to Israel. | 19He declares his word to Jacob, his statutes and judgments to Israel. |
He has not dealt with any other nation like this; they never knew his decrees. Hallelujah! | 20He has not done this for every nation; they do not know his judgments. Hallelujah! |
