1Clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with a loud cry of joy!1For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. A psalm. Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy.
2For the LORD, the Most High, is to be feared, a great king over all the earth.2For the LORD Most High is awesome, the great King over all the earth.
3He subdued peoples under us, and nations under our feet.3He subdued nations under us, peoples under our feet.
4He chose our inheritance for us, even the pride of Jacob whom he loved. Interlude4He chose our inheritance for us, the pride of Jacob, whom he loved.
5God has ascended on high with a shout, the LORD has ascended with the blast of a trumpet.5God has ascended amid shouts of joy, the LORD amid the sounding of trumpets.
6Sing songs to God! Sing songs! Sing songs to our King! Sing songs!6Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises.
7Indeed, God is king over all the earth; sing a song of praise.7For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise.
8God is king over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne.8God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne.
9The nobles among the nations have joined the people of the God of Abraham. For the shields of the earth belong to God; he is greatly exalted.9The nobles of the nations assemble as the people of the God of Abraham, for the kings of the earth belong to God; he is greatly exalted.
