To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.1For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.
Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.2Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.
There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.3Without speech or language, without a sound to be heard,
Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,4their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens He has pitched a tent for the sun.
Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.5Like a bridegroom emerging from his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course,
His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.6it rises at one end of the heavens and runs its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth.
The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.7The Law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is trustworthy, making wise the simple.
The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.8The precepts of the LORD are right, bringing joy to the heart; the commandments of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.
The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.9The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever; the judgments of the LORD are true, being altogether righteous.
More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.10They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb.
Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.11By them indeed Your servant is warned; in keeping them is great reward.
Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.12Who can discern his own errors? Cleanse me from my hidden faults.
Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.13Keep Your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless and cleansed of great transgression.
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.14May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
