To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee; | 1May the LORD answer you in a day of trouble; may the name of Jacob's God protect you. |
Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion; | 2May he send you help from the sanctuary and sustain you from Zion. |
Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Selah. | 3May he remember all your offerings and accept your burnt offering. Selah |
Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel. | 4May he give you what your heart desires and fulfill your whole purpose. |
We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfil all thy petitions. | 5Let us shout for joy at your victory and lift the banner in the name of our God. May the LORD fulfill all your requests. |
Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand. | 6Now I know that the LORD gives victory to his anointed; he will answer him from his holy heaven with mighty victories from his right hand. |
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. | 7Some take pride in chariots, and others in horses, but we take pride in the name of the LORD our God. |
They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright. | 8They collapse and fall, but we rise and stand firm. |
Save, LORD: let the king hear us when we call. | 9LORD, give victory to the king! May he answer us on the day that we call. |
