King James Bible | New Living Translation |
To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee; | 1In times of trouble, may the LORD answer your cry. May the name of the God of Jacob keep you safe from all harm. |
Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion; | 2May he send you help from his sanctuary and strengthen you from Jerusalem. |
Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Selah. | 3May he remember all your gifts and look favorably on your burnt offerings. Interlude |
Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel. | 4May he grant your heart’s desires and make all your plans succeed. |
We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfil all thy petitions. | 5May we shout for joy when we hear of your victory and raise a victory banner in the name of our God. May the LORD answer all your prayers. |
Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand. | 6Now I know that the LORD rescues his anointed king. He will answer him from his holy heaven and rescue him by his great power. |
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. | 7Some nations boast of their chariots and horses, but we boast in the name of the LORD our God. |
They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright. | 8Those nations will fall down and collapse, but we will rise up and stand firm. |
Save, LORD: let the king hear us when we call. | 9Give victory to our king, O LORD! Answer our cry for help. |
