| 1To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of David. O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens. | 1For the choir director: on the Gittith. A Davidic psalm. Yahweh, our Lord, how magnificent is Your name throughout the earth! You have covered the heavens with Your majesty. |
| 2Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger. | 2Because of Your adversaries, You have established a stronghold from the mouths of children and nursing infants to silence the enemy and the avenger. |
| 3When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; | 3When I observe Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You set in place, |
| 4What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? | 4what is man that You remember him, the son of man that You look after him? |
| 5For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. | 5You made him little less than God and crowned him with glory and honor. |
| 6Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: | 6You made him lord over the works of Your hands; You put everything under his feet: |
| 7All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field; | 7all the sheep and oxen, as well as the animals in the wild, |
| 8The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas. | 8the birds of the sky, and the fish of the sea that pass through the currents of the seas. |
| 9O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! | 9Yahweh, our Lord, how magnificent is Your name throughout the earth! |
