2 Corinthians 6
KJV Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
King James BibleInternational Standard Version
1We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.1Since, then, we are working with God, we plead with you not to accept God's grace in vain.
2(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)2For he says, "At the right time I heard you, and on a day of salvation I helped you." Listen, now is really the "right time"! Now is the "day of salvation"!
3Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed:3We do not put an obstacle in anyone's way. Otherwise, fault may be found with our ministry.
4But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,4Instead, in every way we demonstrate that we are God's servants by tremendous endurance in the midst of difficulties, hardships, and calamities;
5In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings;5in beatings, imprisonments, and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights, and hunger;
6By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned,6with purity, knowledge, patience, and kindness; with the Holy Spirit, genuine love,
7By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,7truthful speech, and divine power; through the weapons of righteousness in the right and left hands;
8By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true;8through honor and dishonor; through ill repute and good repute; perceived as deceivers and yet true,
9As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed;9as unknown and yet well-known, as dying and yet—as you see—very much alive, as punished and yet not killed,
10As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.10as sorrowful and yet always rejoicing, as poor and yet enriching many, as having nothing and yet possessing everything.
11O ye Corinthians, our mouth is open unto you, our heart is enlarged.11We have spoken frankly to you, Corinthians. Our hearts are wide open.
12Ye are not straitened in us, but ye are straitened in your own bowels.12We have not cut you off, but you have cut off your own feelings toward us.
13Now for a recompence in the same, (I speak as unto my children,) be ye also enlarged.13Do us a favor—I ask you as my children—and open wide your hearts.
14Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?14Stop becoming unevenly yoked with unbelievers. What partnership can righteousness have with lawlessness? What fellowship can light have with darkness?
15And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?15What harmony exists between the Messiah and Beliar, or what do a believer and an unbeliever have in common?
16And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.16What agreement can a temple of God make with idols? For we are the temple of the living God, just as God said: "I will live and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people."
17Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,17Therefore, "Get away from them and separate yourselves from them," declares the Lord, "and don't touch anything unclean. Then I will welcome you.
18And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.18I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters," declares the Lord Almighty.
