 | 1A Song of degrees. They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever. | 1Those who are trusting in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be overthrown. They remain forever. |
| 2As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from henceforth even for ever. | 2Just as mountains encircle Jerusalem, so the LORD encircles his people, from now to eternity. |
| 3For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity. | 3For evil's scepter will not rest on the land that has been allotted to the righteous, and so the righteous will not direct themselves to do wrong. |
| 4Do good, O LORD, unto those that be good, and to them that are upright in their hearts. | 4LORD, do good to those who are good, and to those who are upright in heart. |
| 5As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the LORD shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity: but peace shall be upon Israel. | 5But for those who choose their own devious paths, the LORD will lead them away, along with those who practice evil. Peace be upon Israel. |
