KJV Parallel NASB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
King James BibleNew American Standard Bible 1995
Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.1Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)2HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER (which is the first commandment with a promise),
That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.3SO THAT IT MAY BE WELL WITH YOU, AND THAT YOU MAY LIVE LONG ON THE EARTH.
And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.4Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;5Slaves, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as to Christ;
Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;6not by way of eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.
With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:7With good will render service, as to the Lord, and not to men,
Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.8knowing that whatever good thing each one does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether slave or free.
And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.9And masters, do the same things to them, and give up threatening, knowing that both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him.
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.11Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.13Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;14Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS,
And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;15and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE;
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.16in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:17And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;18With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,
And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,19and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel,
For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.20for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
But that ye also may know my affairs, and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things:21But that you also may know about my circumstances, how I am doing, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, will make everything known to you.
Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that ye might know our affairs, and that he might comfort your hearts.22I have sent him to you for this very purpose, so that you may know about us, and that he may comfort your hearts.
Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.23Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen. 24Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ with incorruptible love.
