A Song of degrees of David. I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD. | 1A Song of Ascents, of David. I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go to the house of the LORD." |
Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem. | 2Our feet are standing Within your gates, O Jerusalem, |
Jerusalem is builded as a city that is compact together: | 3Jerusalem, that is built As a city that is compact together; |
Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD, unto the testimony of Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the LORD. | 4To which the tribes go up, even the tribes of the LORD-- An ordinance for Israel-- To give thanks to the name of the LORD. |
For there are set thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David. | 5For there thrones were set for judgment, The thrones of the house of David. |
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. | 6Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May they prosper who love you. |
Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces. | 7"May peace be within your walls, And prosperity within your palaces." |
For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee. | 8For the sake of my brothers and my friends, I will now say, "May peace be within you." |
Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek thy good. | 9For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your good. |
