KJV Parallel NET [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
King James BibleNET Bible
Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:1Wisdom has built her house; she has carved out its seven pillars.
She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.2She has prepared her meat, she has mixed her wine; she also has arranged her table.
She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,3She has sent out her female servants; she calls out on the highest places of the city.
Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,4"Whoever is naive, let him turn in here," she says to those who lack understanding.
Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.5"Come, eat some of my food, and drink some of the wine I have mixed.
Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.6Abandon your foolish ways so that you may live, and proceed in the way of understanding."
He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.7Whoever corrects a mocker is asking for insult; whoever reproves a wicked person receives abuse.
Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.8Do not reprove a mocker or he will hate you; reprove a wise person and he will love you.
Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.9Give instruction to a wise person, and he will become wiser still; teach a righteous person and he will add to his learning.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.10The beginning of wisdom is to fear the LORD, and acknowledging the Holy One is understanding.
For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.11For because of me your days will be many, and years will be added to your life.
If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.12If you are wise, you are wise to your own advantage, but if you are a mocker, you alone must bear it.
A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.13The woman called Folly is brash, she is naive and does not know anything.
For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,14So she sits at the door of her house, on a seat at the highest point of the city,
To call passengers who go right on their ways:15calling out to those who are passing by her in the way, who go straight on their way.
Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,16"Whoever is simple, let him turn in here," she says to those who lack understanding.
Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.17"Stolen waters are sweet, and food obtained in secret is pleasant!"
But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.18But they do not realize that the dead are there, that her guests are in the depths of the grave.
