Psalm 16
KJV Parallel NET [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
King James BibleNET Bible
1Michtam of David. Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.1A prayer of David. Protect me, O God, for I have taken shelter in you.
2O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee;2I say to the LORD, "You are the Lord, my only source of well-being."
3But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.3As for God's chosen people who are in the land, and the leading officials I admired so much--
4Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.4their troubles multiply, they desire other gods. I will not pour out drink offerings of blood to their gods, nor will I make vows in the name of their gods.
5The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.5LORD, you give me stability and prosperity; you make my future secure.
6The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.6It is as if I have been given fertile fields or received a beautiful tract of land.
7I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.7I will praise the LORD who guides me; yes, during the night I reflect and learn.
8I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.8I constantly trust in the LORD; because he is at my right hand, I will not be upended.
9Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.9So my heart rejoices and I am happy; My life is safe.
10For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.10You will not abandon me to Sheol; you will not allow your faithful follower to see the Pit.
11Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.11You lead me in the path of life; I experience absolute joy in your presence; you always give me sheer delight.
