Psalm 53
KJV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
King James BibleNew Living Translation
1To the chief Musician upon Mahalath, Maschil, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.1Only fools say in their hearts, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, and their actions are evil; not one of them does good!
2God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.2God looks down from heaven on the entire human race; he looks to see if anyone is truly wise, if anyone seeks God.
3Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.3But no, all have turned away; all have become corrupt. No one does good, not a single one!
4Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread: they have not called upon God.4Will those who do evil never learn? They eat up my people like bread and wouldn’t think of praying to God.
5There were they in great fear, where no fear was: for God hath scattered the bones of him that encampeth against thee: thou hast put them to shame, because God hath despised them.5Terror will grip them, terror like they have never known before. God will scatter the bones of your enemies. You will put them to shame, for God has rejected them.
6Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When God bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.6Who will come from Mount Zion to rescue Israel? When God restores his people, Jacob will shout with joy, and Israel will rejoice.
