For the choir director; set to Al-tashheth. A Mikhtam of David, when he fled from Saul in the cave. Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious to me, For my soul takes refuge in You; And in the shadow of Your wings I will take refuge Until destruction passes by. | 1Be gracious to me, God, be gracious to me, for I take refuge in you. I will seek refuge in the shadow of your wings until danger passes. |
I will cry to God Most High, To God who accomplishes all things for me. | 2I call to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me. |
He will send from heaven and save me; He reproaches him who tramples upon me. Selah. God will send forth His lovingkindness and His truth. | 3He reaches down from heaven and saves me, challenging the one who tramples me. Selah God sends his faithful love and truth. |
My soul is among lions; I must lie among those who breathe forth fire, Even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows And their tongue a sharp sword. | 4I am surrounded by lions; I lie down among devouring lions--people whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords. |
Be exalted above the heavens, O God; Let Your glory be above all the earth. | 5God, be exalted above the heavens; let your glory be over the whole earth. |
They have prepared a net for my steps; My soul is bowed down; They dug a pit before me; They themselves have fallen into the midst of it. Selah. | 6They prepared a net for my steps; I was despondent. They dug a pit ahead of me, but they fell into it! Selah |
My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises! | 7My heart is confident, God, my heart is confident. I will sing; I will sing praises. |
Awake, my glory! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn. | 8Wake up, my soul! Wake up, harp and lyre! I will wake up the dawn. |
I will give thanks to You, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to You among the nations. | 9I will praise you, Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations. |
For Your lovingkindness is great to the heavens And Your truth to the clouds. | 10For your faithful love is as high as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches the clouds. |
Be exalted above the heavens, O God; Let Your glory be above all the earth. | 11God, be exalted above the heavens; let your glory be over the whole earth. |
