Then I lifted up my eyes again and looked, and behold, there was a flying scroll.1I looked up again and saw a flying scroll.
And he said to me, "What do you see?" And I answered, "I see a flying scroll; its length is twenty cubits and its width ten cubits."2"What do you see?" he asked me. "I see a flying scroll," I replied, "thirty feet long and fifteen feet wide."
Then he said to me, "This is the curse that is going forth over the face of the whole land; surely everyone who steals will be purged away according to the writing on one side, and everyone who swears will be purged away according to the writing on the other side.3Then he said to me, "This is the curse that is going out over the whole land, for everyone who is a thief, contrary to what is written on one side, has gone unpunished, and everyone who swears falsely, contrary to what is written on the other side, has gone unpunished.
"I will make it go forth," declares the LORD of hosts, "and it will enter the house of the thief and the house of the one who swears falsely by My name; and it will spend the night within that house and consume it with its timber and stones."4I will send it out,"--this is the declaration of the LORD of Armies--"and it will enter the house of the thief and the house of the one who swears falsely by my name. It will stay inside his house and destroy it along with its timbers and stones."
Then the angel who was speaking with me went out and said to me, "Lift up now your eyes and see what this is going forth."5Then the angel who was speaking with me came forward and told me, "Look up and see what this is that is approaching."
I said, "What is it?" And he said, "This is the ephah going forth." Again he said, "This is their appearance in all the land6So I asked, "What is it?" He responded, "It's a measuring basket that is approaching." And he continued, "This is their iniquity in all the land."
(and behold, a lead cover was lifted up); and this is a woman sitting inside the ephah."7Then a lead cover was lifted, and there was a woman sitting inside the basket.
Then he said, "This is Wickedness!" And he threw her down into the middle of the ephah and cast the lead weight on its opening.8"This is Wickedness," he said. He shoved her down into the basket and pushed the lead weight over its opening.
Then I lifted up my eyes and looked, and there two women were coming out with the wind in their wings; and they had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heavens.9Then I looked up and saw two women approaching with the wind in their wings. Their wings were like those of a stork, and they lifted up the basket between earth and sky.
I said to the angel who was speaking with me, "Where are they taking the ephah?"10So I asked the angel who was speaking with me, "Where are they taking the basket?"
Then he said to me, "To build a temple for her in the land of Shinar; and when it is prepared, she will be set there on her own pedestal."11"To build a shrine for it in the land of Shinar," he told me. "When that is ready, the basket will be placed there on its pedestal."
