Psalm 17
NASB Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995English Standard Version
A Prayer of David. Hear a just cause, O LORD, give heed to my cry; Give ear to my prayer, which is not from deceitful lips.1Hear a just cause, O LORD; attend to my cry! Give ear to my prayer from lips free of deceit!
Let my judgment come forth from Your presence; Let Your eyes look with equity.2From your presence let my vindication come! Let your eyes behold the right!
You have tried my heart; You have visited me by night; You have tested me and You find nothing; I have purposed that my mouth will not transgress.3You have tried my heart, you have visited me by night, you have tested me, and you will find nothing; I have purposed that my mouth will not transgress.
As for the deeds of men, by the word of Your lips I have kept from the paths of the violent.4With regard to the works of man, by the word of your lips I have avoided the ways of the violent.
My steps have held fast to Your paths. My feet have not slipped.5My steps have held fast to your paths; my feet have not slipped.
I have called upon You, for You will answer me, O God; Incline Your ear to me, hear my speech.6I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God; incline your ear to me; hear my words.
Wondrously show Your lovingkindness, O Savior of those who take refuge at Your right hand From those who rise up against them.7Wondrously show your steadfast love, O Savior of those who seek refuge from their adversaries at your right hand.
Keep me as the apple of the eye; Hide me in the shadow of Your wings8Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings,
From the wicked who despoil me, My deadly enemies who surround me.9from the wicked who do me violence, my deadly enemies who surround me.
They have closed their unfeeling heart, With their mouth they speak proudly.10They close their hearts to pity; with their mouths they speak arrogantly.
They have now surrounded us in our steps; They set their eyes to cast us down to the ground.11They have now surrounded our steps; they set their eyes to cast us to the ground.
He is like a lion that is eager to tear, And as a young lion lurking in hiding places.12He is like a lion eager to tear, as a young lion lurking in ambush.
Arise, O LORD, confront him, bring him low; Deliver my soul from the wicked with Your sword,13Arise, O LORD! Confront him, subdue him! Deliver my soul from the wicked by your sword,
From men with Your hand, O LORD, From men of the world, whose portion is in this life, And whose belly You fill with Your treasure; They are satisfied with children, And leave their abundance to their babes.14from men by your hand, O LORD, from men of the world whose portion is in this life. You fill their womb with treasure; they are satisfied with children, and they leave their abundance to their infants.
As for me, I shall behold Your face in righteousness; I will be satisfied with Your likeness when I awake.15As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness; when I awake, I shall be satisfied with your likeness.
